The price of biodiversity
Farm economic effects of biodiversity
What is the effect of measures to enhance biodiversity on farm economic results? Researchers and advisors at the Louis Bolk Institute aim to answer this question within the Farm Economic Indicators project. The objective is to better tailor our advice on suitable biodiversity measures for individual farming situations, based on new insights into farm economic effects. This will provide a clearer picture of the 'price' of biodiversity. A clever use of biodiversity can make farming systems more sustainable and resilient. Moreover, biodiversity contributes to landscape quality.Mapping environmental effects
Our researchers are also mapping the long-term environmental effects of biodiversity measures. This will allow making better-informed decisions about which biodiversity measures are most suitable for specific locations or areas. The Farm Economic Indicators project is part of a larger programme. The project is funded by the province of Brabant and conducted by the Louis Bolk Institute in collaboration with the Dutch DLV Rundvee Advies BV and Wageningen UR Livestock Research. For more information on this project or other Marketing and Production chain projects please contact Jan de Wit.
