Abstract / summary in English:

This is the first book that has combined theory, scientific knowledge and practice of potato breeding. Topics included are on the history of the potato breeding in the Netherlands, back ground information on genetics, heritability of traits in potato. Next to that, also practical chapters on making crossings with or without wild potato relatives, and the selection of new clones. A special feature is the information on the systematic assessment of various traits, richly illustrated with pictures. But also useful is all the (farmer) breeder needs to know about the inspection and the process of registration of new varieties.
