Development through trade Projects

No aid but trade

A clear example of a Development through Trade project is our role at the Africa Pavilion at Biofach, Germany. The Africa Pavilion was initiated in 2008, and from the first time one of the highlights at Biofach, the biggest exhibition of organic and fair trade products at the world.

Together with our partners Grolink and IFOAM, we organise since then a platform for African exporters and European importers focused on creating new supply chains. The objective is to connect exporting organic farmers groups from Africa to importing companies from Europe by means of networking activities, symposia and product presentations. The project therefore serves to assist companies directly in their sales and introduces starting exporters to global markets.

The market driven approach leads to a stable and demand driven development of the organic sector in Africa. We have been launching more than 100 new supply chains in the past 15 years, of which at least 80% are currently active at the organic market.
