Louis Bolk Institute key note speaker at international conference in Kazachstan
Organic agriculture promotes rural development in CEE and Central Asian countries
From 17 to 20 September 2010, the third conference on organic agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia will be organized in Astana, Kazakhstan. The main theme is the development of organic agriculture in relation to biodiversity, nature conservation, rural development and ecotourism. Researchers Geert-Jan van der Burgt and Peter Brul, both connected to the Louis Bolk Institute in the Netherlands, are key note speakers and will present their paper about nitrogen fertilization and organic agriculture promoting rural development.Sharing European knowledge and experience
For the third time, the German Organic Services is organizing the international conference on organic agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The objective is to strengthen the network among professionals and to share, exchange and increase the international knowledge and experience with organic farming. Other key note speakers are, among others Jiri Urban, Czech Minister for Environment, Research and Education, Koert Jansen from Triodos Bank, Asad Naqvi from UNEP and Wouter Floot from Tradin Organic Agriculture. Afterwards, participants are invited to join an excursion to Korgalzhyn Nature Park, a beautiful wetland area known from the UNESCO World Heritage List (September 19-20). Visitors from previous conferences appreciated the congress because of its interactivity, networking opportunities and practical knowledge.About the programme and organisation

His colleague Peter Brul will present "Organic agriculture and rural development: inspiring examples from the region".
